# 12 Rollyo

I have used this tool to search some great literature sites for American, Australian, Childrens, English and Irish literature. Its great that they can all be searched from the same search engine. Will add more sites when I have time. Here is the link.

# 10 image generators

This was great fun. Using FD toys I have used my Collingwood photos and made a photo cube with the help from this site
http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/cube.php

I have hockneyised a magpie in the style of David Hockney
http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/hockney.php

and have seen into the future with a banner from banner generator
http://www.lintukoto.net/demonstration/

and I will try not to talk about footy anymore till the 2008 season starts.

# 9 Adding RSS feeds

This was the hard part, news feeds, library feeds, political feeds, footy feeds, literary feeds, could go on forever, but know I won't have time to read them all. A lot of my bookmarked sites had RSS feeds so that made it easy to subscribe to them.

I have subscribed to the usual library sites, and to four of my library colleagues' blogs that I thought were original and interesting. I have also subscribed to political sites, Hilary Clinton, and Barack Obama, will one of them be the next US president? Couldn't resist the AFL feeds, especially the mighty pies! I subscribed to Australian Literay Studies, a publication found through the ANZ Ebsco Host database and Matilda, an Australian literay blog found through the google blog search.

You can find my feeds at http://www.bloglines.com/public/beginnerblogger

Just discovered folders, Why am I surprised? I am now arranging my feeds into manageable folders.

# 8 RSS feeds

I already subscribe to a few news and library subscriptions through email, but RSS feeds are one step better, all on one page and easily accessible. I found it fairly easy to navigate through this and setting up an account was ok though took a lot longer than I thought. I have also impressed my technology savy adult children this week with my blog, flickr, and rss knowledge. Its good to be one step ahead of them for a change, though not sure that facebook is my thing.

# 7 technology blog post

New technology is great, when I understand it! Keeping up with friends and family by text messages and emails where ever they are, interstate or overseas is amazing. Sending and receiving photos by mobile phone, receiving news bulletins from The Age via email, searching databases from libraries online from home or work, all of this unimaginable not that long ago. I have just received an email with photos of my friend's new apartment in Darwin overlooking Cullen Bay. I love booking AFL tickets online and printing them. I love researching and booking hotel accomodation online.

Still haven't mastered the ipod or programing my dvd player. So much to learn...

Explored the trading card application. Wonder what my in laws would think about being turned into a trading card?

week 3

Searching flickr was fun, so many photos to look at. I enjoyed loading personal photos.
What a great way to organize them all. Also loved looking at the National Library
Picture Australia website.

This is when technology is fantastic, a great way to preserve all those old photos. I'm having trouble registering my blog, the web site
seems to be down, will try again tomorrow.
